Sketchbook
At Primrose Time we were visiting the Bates Wood home of Jim and Edna Sharpe in neighbouring Denver - Norfolk not Colorado. In the wildlife sanctuary of their grounds they were holding a 'Bird Ringing and Craft' day out. Having recently moved up from London these country pursuits were a tremendous contrast and great fun. With it's many outbuildings, woodlands, Elderflower cordial, vintage farm equipment, and working display of olde contraptions such as mangles and wringers - I remarked that this would be a great environment to draw in, when I was prompted by my father in law and fellow artist Richard to read a worn out blackboard leaning against a shrub which had escaped my notice - 'Bates Wood Art Group meets every Wednesday afternoon!'
